General Questions

Q: How many custom fields can I create? A: There’s no hard limit, but we recommend 10-15 fields for optimal performance and user experience.

Q: Can I change the field type after creation? A: No, field types are permanent. Create a new field and manually migrate data if needed.

Q: Do custom fields appear in contact exports? A: Yes, custom field data is included when you export contact information.

Q: Can other companies see my custom fields? A: No, custom fields are company-specific. Each company has their own separate set of fields.

Data and Import Questions

Q: What happens if I upload a CSV with a column that doesn’t match any custom field? A: Unknown columns are ignored during import. Only recognized standard fields and exact custom field name matches are processed.

Q: Can I bulk update custom field values for existing contacts? A: Yes, use the bulk upload feature. Existing contacts with matching phone numbers will be updated with new custom field values.

Q: How do I handle apostrophes and commas in dropdown values? A: For CSV uploads, wrap values containing commas in quotes. Example: “HVAC, Plumbing” or use the manual entry method.

Advanced Usage

Q: Can I create conditional fields (show field X only if field Y equals Z)? A: Not currently supported. All active custom fields appear in forms.

Q: Can I use custom fields in automated messages or campaigns? A: Integration with messaging and automation features varies. Contact support for specific use cases.
