📌 Google My Business API Review Count Discrepancy

1. Filtered/Hidden Reviews – Google’s public review count includes reviews that are:
   • Flagged as spam but still counted publicly
   • Under policy review/moderation
   • From suspended accounts
   • Violating guidelines but not yet removed from the public count
2. API vs Public Display – The API only returns reviews that are “approved” and fully accessible, while the public-facing count on Google Maps/Search includes all reviews ever posted (minus explicitly deleted ones).

• Accept the gap – This is expected behavior; most developers see 5-10% fewer reviews via API than the public count
